The Brixton Church GriefShare program is still very much alive and continues to reach out to our church community members and the surrounding sister churches in and around Brixton who are struggling to come to terms with the loss of their loved ones.
The program runs twice a year, in February (for 13 consecutive weeks) and then again in August (also for another 13 weeks). During the last session in August, we also run an extra program called “Surviving the Holidays” which address the problems and issues that occur during the Christmas season and other holidays.
This year, we started a session at Park Care Old Age Home. The program was well received with a maximum of 22 people attending at one stage, which is a record attendance for our GriefShare. Although the numbers have dwindled some, we still have our “regulars” that attend each week. We have made some very good friends at Park Care and I am sure we will be having more sessions in the years to come.
Our New Year program will also be starting off with a bang in February 2020 as we have already been booked for a GriefShare session at rev. Judy Bassingthwaighte’s Anglican Church in Coronationville. We have been told that there are already 15 people that will be attending and we hope to see more joining us as the program kicks off early February.
Please continue to keep the Brixton Church GriefShare Team in your thoughts and prayers. We continue to ask our Heavenly Father for strength, support and wisdom as we reach out the those who need our help.
I would also like to say a very big thank you to my team for their continued support throughout the past years and I hope that we will continue as a team in the future.
